Ep. 106: Time is Money, Money is Power, Power is Pizza, Pizza is Knowledge

It’s Leslie’s last day in the city council office! She’s saying her goodbyes — will there be one last shenanigan before she heads out? Probably. It IS Parks and Rec, after all.

Meanwhile, Tom is trying to find his next big investment deal and runs a mini Shark Tank experience for people to share their great ideas. Pizza is knowledge, yo. And Ann and Chris debate whether they want to find out the sex of their baby.

Plus, weddings that don’t have open bars, whether Miley Cyrus or Selena Gomez has more jams, and Sean needs to take some probiotics, STAT.

Ep. 75: Soda Taxes and Training Interns

Leslie wants to introduce a soda tax on the ABSURDLY large cups that Sweetums is selling to people. Across the country in Washington, D.C. Ben Wyatt tries to earn the respect of his interns. But first, he has to win over someone near and dear to his heart. While all of that’s going on, Tom and Chris try to get Andy into tip-top shape to join the police force. Andy runs a lot and it gets us winded.

Meanwhile, Sean is in incredible pain from all of the sports he’s been playing recently, we briefly talk about our favorite Oscars films (despite only seeing between 11 and 22 percent of the nominations), and we dissect the wonderful meme of Rob Lowe wearing a hat with the NFL logo on it. Joey also goes on a passionate rant against Apple despite having way too many Apple products, but the rant is only for like 30 seconds. Sorry, Siri.

After we recorded this episode, Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna and seven others were killed in a helicopter crash outside Los Angeles. We hopped on the phone to record an additional outro, sharing some of our favorite Kobe Bryant moments and what he accomplished with basketball, business, and storytelling. If you haven’t seen his Oscar-winning “Dear Basketball” short, we’d highly recommend it.

Ep. 73: A Season for the Ages

Season 4 is in the books! Sean gives a recap of the season, including some of his favorite moments, as well as his least favorite moments (spoiler: it’s anytime Tom and Ann are dating). Then we turn the tables and run him over with an AMA, where we pepper him with all the questions. Find out things like what’s happened with Sean’s enemy that keeps coming into his job, his greatest accomplishments at work, when he let a bunch of children run rampant all over the place, and a heartwarming moment that will make you smile. And we could all use a little more of those warm and fuzzy feelings, you know?

Sean also makes his prediction for Season 5, plus next week’s episode, “Ms. Knope Goes to Washington.” Will he be spot on or is he just a big dreamer? We’ll find out next time!

It’s the start of the year but the end of the season – the time has finally come to vote for city council. Will Leslie defeat Bobby Newport? Can Ben Wyatt handle a drink of whiskey, neat? Ep. 68: Is It Strange to Read a Book Alone at a Restaurant?

Leslie gets blitzed, which would normally be a lot of fun. But unfortunately, she’s gotta go to the Pawnee Airport to do an interview with Buddy Wood, played ably by Sean Hayes of Will and Grace fame. Meanwhile, Tom and Ann try to set a record for the most consecutive hours of dating (their current high is 47 straight hours).

Plus, a lot of random Seinfeld references, Sean is on a tough streak in our weekly trivia, and Joey shares some fun broadcasting terms. We also dive into the highly accurate phrase “it ain’t government work if you don’t have to do it twice” and discuss if it’s strange to read a book alone at a bar or restaurant. Also, Haleigh was on the radio! It’s like a podcast but live.

Finally, Sean takes us inside some DRAMA at his job. It’s a true parks and rec spectacular!

Ep. 67: Jen Barkley is Shaking Things Up!

We got new POP filters, y’all. And how fitting, because this episode is poppin’ with new character Jennifer Barkley. She’s leading the campaign for Bobby Newport and has become quite the thorn in Leslie Knope’s side. She and Ben Wyatt are trying to get the support of the elderly community, but Jen Barkley always seems to be two steps ahead. How can they persevere?

Meanwhile, the citizens of Pawnee can’t stop putting their entire mouths on water fountains. Ann and the crew try to solve the issue, and thanks to some creative thinking from April, the job gets done. Will that lead to a promotion for April? We’ll JUST HAVE TO FIND OUT.

Plus we’re talking how easily new phones can break, express our amazement at how quickly Sean can slam 11 cookies from McDonald’s, and chat about some of the best classic Britney Spears songs. Sean still doesn’t appreciate how Perd Hapley speaks, but on the plus side, he comes through with a last-second Top 5 shake up! We dive into our favorite shakes. YUM.

Ep. 66: The Sweetest Sweet Sixteen

Jerry’s celebrating his 64th birthday (aka his Sweet Sixteen) and the gang is excited! Just kidding, they totally forgot. Meanwhile, Leslie is doing too much multitasking between her campaign and parks and rec duties, leading to lots of hilarious misadventures. We get lots of Champion in this episode, which is always a plus. And we learn a fun fact about Donna this episode, and it’s a huge part of our trivia. HOW FUN!

Tom and Ann are dating and it’s making Sean FURIOUS. Perhaps swayed by Champion’s screen time, our own pup mascot Franxie is trying to make appearances on this episode, too – you may hear her barking in the background. That’s very sweet of her. Ep. 58: I Hold Myself In Contempt!

Leslie Knope is ON TRIAL. What for? Well, you’ll have to tune in to find out. Plus we’re chatting about the wonders of Google Earth, get a bit nostalgic with Matchbox Twenty, the many unethical things going on during this episode, Sean’s super old laptop, being punished via caning or a belt, how many songs are about candy, and Sean’s extreme love/hate affair with football. On a related note, one of Joey’s doppelgangers recently retired from the NFL and now he’s sad.

This episode also has arguably the best cold open of the entire series. Here it is. Tell us you disagree (you cannot). Oh yeah, and Sean doesn’t even know what Citizen Kane is! What has he been doing with his life?
