Ep. 135: A Parks and Recreation Pandemic Special

Goodness, this is a weird one. But would you expect anything less from the FINAL EPISODE EVER?!

The Parks and Rec crew reunite several years after the series finale, hosting a handful of Gryzzl one-on-one and conference calls. All of our favorites are here — Leslie and Ron have a couple of touching heart-to-hearts and Donna is looking exceptionally good with her gorgeous lighting in her closet. We’ve got lots of fun cameos from folks like Councilman Jamm, Dennis Feinstein, Joan Callamezzo, Perd Hapley, and Jean-Ralphio, who is flush with cash but INCREDIBLY bored. If only that fake phone number actually worked…

Meanwhile, the writers have to get creative on how show couples like Ann and Chris and April and Andy can’t be seen together. If you rewatch this episode, you may notice a couple of the very overused phrases like “these trying times,” but hey, we didn’t know what was to come back then. Plus, this episode raised at least $3 million for Feeding America, which is fantastic.

Plus, we dive into popular club hits from the late 00s and early 10s, put on a ton of wacky sound effects, and discuss the people who have won an EGOT (they’re hard to guess!). Also, does Sean need to buy himself a coffee machine?

Doing this podcast has been a blast and we’ve loved hanging out with you every week. But this isn’t goodbye forever. We’ve got some cool things planned — keep an eye here and on Facebook and Twitter for updates!

Ep. 130: One-Way Ticket to the Funky Monkey Dunk Tank

With just a few episodes to go, we’re going to take a wild detour to Andy’s Johnny Karate kids show that doesn’t really advance the plot in any way. But, uh…it’s kind of silly occasionally, so…yay?

Andy gets top billing by being a big ol’ goofball, while April is worried that she’s ruining the one thing he loves by moving to Washington, D.C. Ben gets chided for being a nerd, Ron makes some wood, and John Cena shows up, for some reason. Look, it’s not a great episode, okay? We do like all the fake commercials spliced into the episode, though.

Meanwhile, SNL movies that were made from questionable premises, the hypocrisy of the NCAA, the joys of snacking on buckeyes, and how good would a Paunch Burger be in real life?

Plus, Sean achieved a HUGE milestone. Tune in to see what it is!

Ep. 118: You’re So Good At Reminding Me Where Pizza Is

Welcome to the Unity Concert! We’ve finally made it and my, what a wonderful show. This Parks and Rec episode is chock full of guest appearances, like Ginuwine, Jeff Tweedy of Wilco, Kay Hanley of Letters to Cleo, The Decemberists, Jon Hamm, Johnny Karate, and a whole lot more. And we’re all partying at Tom’s Bistro after the show.

Meanwhile, Leslie is looking for people to take with her to her new job as the head of the Midwest branch of the National Park Service. Ron is disinterested because the government, April hates people and Leslie (but also loves her). Andy briefly agrees after forgetting that he can also get pizza in Pawnee. And of course, Larry is game! The end of this episode also flashes forward three years into the future, which is wild.

Plus, the proper footwear to don if you’re participating on Floor Is Lava, how some people only have one karaoke song they ever sing, and the longevity of the Power Rangers as both a show and video game. Does it also seem like there’s far less Christmas music this year than usual or is it just us?

Also, Joey apologizes to Darkbuster for blanking on your name during the episode. Rock on!

Ep. 109: Keep Your Tears in Your Eyes, Where They Belong

Parks n Wrecked Podcast Logo

We’re saying goodbye to Chris and Ann, and Sean could not be more distraught (mainly about Ann, he’s fine with Chris’s departure). The characters on Parks and Rec are all saying their respective goodbyes — Chris is proud of April, Donna grabs Chris’s butt, and Leslie puts on a party with all the normal and wacky holidays Ann and crew have celebrated, including Easter, New Year’s, and Talk Like a Pittsburgh Pirate Day.

Meanwhile, there are all kinds of Pawnee cameos in this episode. Kathryn Pinewood, Perd Hapley, Pete Disellio…they’re all here and offering various levels of help to Leslie.

Plus, the things Sean has cut himself off from after spending a ton of money on new tires, the best Kelly Clarkson songs to see live, and an eager Parks n Wrecked fan shares his Rocket League user ID with us. How nice!

After the success of last week’s episode, Sean’s got the University of Texas game on in the background this time. And this ain’t no first half shenanigans — we’re in the fourth quarter and overtime, baby!

P.S. A lot has happened since we last recorded, so here’s another reminder: PLEASE vote this year. Not just for the President, but at your local levels, too.

Ep. 67: Jen Barkley is Shaking Things Up!

Parks n Wrecked Logo - A podcast about Parks and Rec

We got new POP filters, y’all. And how fitting, because this episode is poppin’ with new character Jennifer Barkley. She’s leading the campaign for Bobby Newport and has become quite the thorn in Leslie Knope’s side. She and Ben Wyatt are trying to get the support of the elderly community, but Jen Barkley always seems to be two steps ahead. How can they persevere?

Meanwhile, the citizens of Pawnee can’t stop putting their entire mouths on water fountains. Ann and the crew try to solve the issue, and thanks to some creative thinking from April, the job gets done. Will that lead to a promotion for April? We’ll JUST HAVE TO FIND OUT.

Plus we’re talking how easily new phones can break, express our amazement at how quickly Sean can slam 11 cookies from McDonald’s, and chat about some of the best classic Britney Spears songs. Sean still doesn’t appreciate how Perd Hapley speaks, but on the plus side, he comes through with a last-second Top 5 shake up! We dive into our favorite shakes. YUM.
