Ep. 135: A Parks and Recreation Pandemic Special

Listen to “A Parks and Recreation Pandemic Special” on Spreaker.

Goodness, this is a weird one. But would you expect anything less from the FINAL EPISODE EVER?!

The Parks and Rec crew reunite several years after the series finale, hosting a handful of Gryzzl one-on-one and conference calls. All of our favorites are here — Leslie and Ron have a couple of touching heart-to-hearts and Donna is looking exceptionally good with her gorgeous lighting in her closet. We’ve got lots of fun cameos from folks like Councilman Jamm, Dennis Feinstein, Joan Callamezzo, Perd Hapley, and Jean-Ralphio, who is flush with cash but INCREDIBLY bored. If only that fake phone number actually worked…

Meanwhile, the writers have to get creative on how show couples like Ann and Chris and April and Andy can’t be seen together. If you rewatch this episode, you may notice a couple of the very overused phrases like “these trying times,” but hey, we didn’t know what was to come back then. Plus, this episode raised at least $3 million for Feeding America, which is fantastic.

Plus, we dive into popular club hits from the late 00s and early 10s, put on a ton of wacky sound effects, and discuss the people who have won an EGOT (they’re hard to guess!). Also, does Sean need to buy himself a coffee machine?

Doing this podcast has been a blast and we’ve loved hanging out with you every week. But this isn’t goodbye forever. We’ve got some cool things planned — keep an eye here and on Facebook and Twitter for updates!

Ep. 122: It’s F*cking Milk

Listen to “It's F*cking Milk” on Spreaker.

Leslie and Ron are each holding press conferences to promote their bids for land. Ron, Tom, and Donna have Anabel Porter from Bloosh, and Leslie has…a descendant of William Henry Harrison, ninth President of the United States. What a standoff!

Meanwhile, Terry has become a notary—“No, Terry!”—and is delighting in every minute of it. Ben has to continually get things signed, and Andy and April try to figure out what the latter is good at so she can turn it into her career.

Plus, putting Texas Roadhouse butter onto things besides their rolls, the Harlem Shake, spoiling movies with twist endings before they happen, and Sean has a grudge from five years ago that still grinds his gears.

Ep. 119: Six Seasons in the Books! And A Farewell to 2020

Listen to “Six Seasons in the Books! And A Farewell to 2020” on Spreaker.

Well, we’ve made it through Season 6 and basically 2020, so there’s lots of reflecting going on. We reminisce about the very first episode of Parks n Wrecked and how wildly unprofessional it was (as if we’ve gotten more professional, HA). And of course, we’re going over some of the key moments of Season 6 of Parks and Rec.

Remember when Andy had a job in London and hopped into a dumpster? Or how about the time Chris Bosh made a guest appearance as an Eagletonian high schooler player despite being nearly 30 years old? Or when Leslie Knope got recalled?

Yes, we all remember the Unity Concert, and there was plenty of personal growth in Season 6. This was the season where Ann and Chris left us after birthing a beautiful child. Donna’s a realtor now. April is working with animals, which she LOVES. Tom sells his old company and opened up Tom’s Bistro. Ron and Diane got married and had a baby and we barely heard about it! Larry retired yet he’s still working all the time. Classic Larry. And then we time-hopped three years at the end of the season!

Plus, wild moments with the wind and ultimate frisbee, an in-depth look at butt fumbles, a deep dive into the Logical Journey of the Zoombinis computer game, and a full-on reflection of 2020 as a whole. We also take a trivia quiz that crashes on us halfway through, and Sean alienates his friends by criticizing both The Office and Parks and Rec.

And remember: 2020 may have been terrible but we all still accomplished good things this year. Take a moment to reflect on those and have a wonderful and relaxing holiday. We’ll see you next year!

Oh, and did you want to check out some of the other things we mentioned? We’d love to see you at Good People, Cool Things and Crisp Bounce Pass or dropping a review on this Bic Pen for Her or the book How to Avoid Huge Ships.

Ep. 115: I’ll Bring It Down a THOUSAND Notches If I Have To

Listen to “I’ll Bring It Down a THOUSAND Notches If I Have To” on Spreaker.

Leslie and Andy are on a quest to find a headliner for the Unity Concert. Their first choice? Bo Burnham, playing a big ol’ jerk face named Chipp McCapp. Luckily, they’re able to pivot to their second choice, Jeff Tweedy, the lead singer of the totally made-up band Land Ho and the totally real band Wilco.

Meanwhile, Ron babysits Ben, who is extremely drunk, and they run into some tough going. And Tom, April, and Donna seek out a new sommelier for Tom’s Bistro. And we’re all getting notes of dried robin’s blood and just a hint of a robot’s bathwater.

Plus, Sean is incredibly under the weather this episode, but he’s POWERING THROUGH. We also discuss gaining massive amounts of weight during the pandemic, wild events going on in the neighborhood, and there’s exciting news in Sean’s and Haleigh’s families!

Ep. 114: Prom — Is It a Banger?

Listen to “Prom — Is It a Banger?” on Spreaker.

Put on your corsages and boutonnières, y’all — we’re going to prom! Leslie and Ron are both trying to direct a youth of Pawnee to their preferred career paths, with predictably uncomfortable results.

Meanwhile, April and Andy head to the prom despite April’s protests (don’t worry, ma’am, Andy will have her back by 11) and Ben and Tom are both DJing the dance. Who will be the better music master?

Plus, Joey eats an entire bowl of caramel, Sean isn’t very good at video games that require dance moves, a new and improved way to watch sports games, and we reflect on our own prom experiences. Spoiler alert: Some of them were WILD.

Parks n Wrecked Podcast Logo

Listen to “Storied Past, Bright Future” on Spreaker.

Leslie wants to introduce a new slogan for the merger of Pawnee and Eagleton, yet those wacky citizens are voting for joke answers.

Meanwhile, Donna and April are helping Tom find a location for his Tom’s Bistro idea, yet they keep stumbling upon terrible places. And Andy learns a secret about Ron Swanson.

Plus, Sean is drunk and playing Street Fighter, we discuss if Texas treasure Buc-ees is overrated, whether roulette is the silliest game you can play while at a casino, and the excitement that comes from exercising your right to vote. And subscribe to Crisp Bounce Pass!

Ep. 107: Completely Shaved, Like an Eel

Parks n Wrecked Podcast Logo

Listen to “Completely Shaved, Like an Eel” on Spreaker.

Leslie is in extra annoying mode this episode, because she realizes she’s designed a well-oiled machine of an office that can operate just fine without her. Ben attempts to prank half the office and the police get involved. You can imagine how Ben gets, since he becomes more incoherent than Dawn Lazarus whenever law enforcement comes around.

Meanwhile, Chris and Ann decide to get married. Or maybe they don’t. There’s a lot of back and forth. Jerry’s also choking on crackers. Like, for a long time.

Plus, Joey forgets the plot to Zoolander, we try to figure out the proper way to shorten “hacky sack”, and the joys of performing concerts around the house to an imaginary audience.

Also: here’s a PSA to get registered to vote and counted for the census. DO IT.

Ep. 101: That Has Never Been True

Parks n Wrecked Logo - A podcast about Parks and Rec

Listen to “That Has Never Been True” on Spreaker.

Sean STRONGLY dislikes this episode, and he really ain’t wrong. Donna accidentally tweets out something personal from the Parks and Rec Department’s Twitter account and faces the wrath of big government. Plus Leslie learns something surprising about her one of her prized employees.

Meanwhile, Ben and Ron have the best moments of the episode trying to write a new will for Ron, as Ben struggles not to say accounting puns. And Tom has one of his creepiest episodes yet!

Plus, we discuss frozen yogurt adventures, playing on slip’n’slides, how Hulu commercials seem to be pretty targeting Sean’s specific viewing habits, and there’s actually some real-life parks and rec action in this episode. It seems like that has never been true, so how exciting!

Ep. 99: This Calls for Some Celebratory Lunges

Parks n Wrecked Logo - A podcast about Parks and Rec

Listen to “This Calls for Some Celebratory Lunges” on Spreaker.

There are so many guest stars in this episode! June Diane Raphael, Sam Elliott, Billy Eichner, Melinda Cohen, and a handful of other folks join the Pawnee crew after the town absorbs Eagleton, but will they all survive until the end of the episode? Magic 8 Ball says all signs point to no.

Meanwhile, Ben and Chris are trimming the fat of the Eagleton accounting crew, all while Chris does celebratory lunges. Can you think of a better way to show your excitement?

Plus, Haleigh attended her best friend’s wedding (while practicing social distancing), Sean considers a move to Colorado, we chat about the old Super Nintendo game Super Baseball 2020, and we talk about the glorious home arcade action that these new Arcade1Up cabinets provide, including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and NBA Jam. You can finally find out Sean’s favorite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle!

Hope you’re ready to jump, because this episode is all over the place.
