Ep. 84: This is Garbage

Parks n Wrecked Logo - A podcast about Parks and Rec

Listen to “This is Garbage” on Spreaker.

We may be social distancing, but we’re not letting that get us down! And perhaps it’s fitting that the world is knee-deep in garbage, because we’re covering the episode “Women in Garbage” today. Sean is far away and sounds a bit like he’s in a well, but we’re doing our best with what we can, people.

For some reason, Ron once again has to play babysitter for his girlfriend, Diane, Warrior Princess. She can’t seem to find adequate care for her children! Luckily, Ron’s got Ann on his side, and she’s terrible at watching kids, too. Meanwhile, Leslie and April are picking up garbage to show they’re just as proficient as men when it comes to tackling sanitation needs. Oh, and Andy and Ben are trying to teach Tom how to play basketball. Spoiler alert: it doesn’t go well.

Plus, frustration with the government, dumb people that blatantly ignore useful rules, and we provide some activities you can do while practicing social distancing. And Haleigh gets SUPER heated during her Top 5. Take a listen!

Ep. 78: An Episode Full of Surprises

Parks n Wrecked Logo - A podcast about Parks and Rec

Listen to “An Episode Full of Surprises” on Spreaker.

It’s Halloween! Ron and Andy are in charge of Diane’s kids, for some reason. Leslie is flustered because she and Ben are planning to start their life together, but all of a sudden, Ben might not be coming back to Pawnee. What a surprise! But spoiler alert: it’s not the biggest surprise of the episode.

Meanwhile, some of the gang is watching thriller-we-wish-was-real Death Canoe 4. In more serious news, Jerry also suffers a fart attack, necessitating the need for a garage sale. What kind of fun treasure will the Pawnee crew dig up? Plus, it’s the birth of Rent-a-Swag! Tom finally has a great business idea, and we’re so proud of him.

We also dive into all the random pizza holidays that have been created over the past few years. And Joey shares a fun book worth checking out, Mark Bittman’s How to Cook Everything. What a tasty tome!

Ep. 76: Pawnee Porpoises and Therapy Sessions

Parks n Wrecked Logo - A podcast about Parks and Rec

Listen to “Pawnee Porpoises and Therapy Sessions” on Spreaker.

Leslie is trying to keep a pool open for the Pawnee Porpoises youth swim team, but she has to jump through quite a few hoops to make it happen. Classic Jeremy Jamm ruining our plans. Ben and April are stuck in a parking garage for the entire episode. Ron goes on a date with a woman that’s not named Tammy. WHAT?! Chris Traeger has a therapist now, so that means the parks department has to install a 3-1-1 line? Look, this part of the plot doesn’t really make sense, but here we are.

Sean is MAD this episode. Why? Because it illustrates everything that’s wrong with BIG POLITICS. But he sure is impressed by Leslie’s perm. Plus we reminisce about our first encounters with smoking cigars. Much like Tom, we did not like them.

Ep. 64: Take Me Out to the Ballgame, Take Me Out to the Game

Parks n Wrecked Logo - A podcast about Parks and Rec

Listen to “Take Me Out to the Ballgame, Take Me Out to the Game” on Spreaker.

Dave the Cop returns to try and win Leslie back. Meanwhile, Ben still can’t speak normally around police officers, and Andy is trying to write a hit song, but he sadly can’t recreate the magic of 5,000 Candles in the Wind…but maybe he CAN with a little help from one Duke Silver.

On our end, Joey is butchering trivia left and right, Haleigh knows some people who are very quick at peeing, and we give plenty of speed dating advice to Sean. Feel free to share your best tips! Plus we chat mascots of our various schools.

Chris Traeger also does a brilliant job singing the classic hit “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.” But don’t just believe us – here it is.

We also run through our defining Paul Rudd movies, alternate Twix flavors from childhood, Joey’s Kentucky Derby adventures, and people using service dogs while grocery shopping. Plus we follow up on a controversial subject from a couple of episodes ago. Hop on in!

We also talk about weird fortunes from fortune cookies, do terrible Chris Traeger impressions, and discuss weird phrases like “that’s more stick than carrot.” And Sean’s disdain for The Office rears its ugly head.

Ep. 59: What Did You Get Me for Christmas?

Parks n Wrecked Logo - A podcast about Parks and Rec

Listen to “What Did You Get Me for Christmas?” on Spreaker.

Leslie Knope isn’t allowed to work in the government, so she tries her hand at being a concerned citizen. Meanwhile, Ben is out and about searching for a new job while the rest of the gang is cooking up a little fun treat for their fearless owner.

Leslie’s also handing out Christmas gifts, which makes us dive into Sean’s own favorite presents. We also discuss inappropriate flag football team names, being extras in commercials, and our first Nintendo video games.

Additionally, Joey is apparently the only one who enjoys Friday Night Lights. These other kids wouldn’t know character if Tim Riggins tackled it out of them.

Ep. 31: Can Freddy Spaghetti Save the Government?

Parks n Wrecked Logo - A podcast about Parks and Rec

Listen to “Can Freddy Spaghetti Save the Government?” on Spreaker.

We’re wrapping up Season 2 with mega excitement. Austin City Council Member Jimmy Flannigan – who the Austin Chronicle once called “Austin’s Leslie Knope” – joins us right in the middle of a government shutdown for a jam-packed episode. Leslie has a plan to save the government: Freddy Spaghetti, whose noodle-themed songs are just what Pawnee needs. We also discuss our misadventures with wine tasting, what to do when people think you’re looking at them funny, and Jimmy shares some of his stories from his time on City Council. It’s the perfect way to say goodbye to season two.
