Ep. 134: Yes, I’m Ready. *Dramatic Music Intensifies*

Listen to “Yes, I’m Ready. *Dramatic Music Intensifies*” on Spreaker.

We’re recapping season 7! What were the best moments from the last season ever of Parks of Rec? Certainly wasn’t the Johnny Karate musical show, we’ll tell you that much. And who are the best bit characters from the Pawnee crew? We’re covering it all!

Plus, Sean and Haleigh take a quiz naming popular workplace sitcom characters, we talk about sock hops and what song would be delightful to hear during one, and Sean shares his experience of playing hockey and scoring a game-winning goal during a shootout.

Also, remember when Apple forced an album from U2 onto all of its products? Those were good times. And what are the odds that you would die on your birthday? We do a deep dive into that very topic.

Finally, what should Haleigh do for her punishment after losing trivia? We wanna hear from you! In the meantime, give James Blunt’s Twitter a follow.

P.S. Sorry for Sean’s audio quality in parts of this one. He tried a new microphone and…well, there are still some kinks to be worked out with it. Nothing like the penultimate episode to give something wild a spin!

Ep. 129: Time to Get Baking, Daddy Want Pie!

Listen to “Time to Get Baking, Daddy Want Pie!” on Spreaker.

Ben is running for Congress, and that means Leslie needs to make a pie. But, you know what? That’s pretty darn oppressive, so we bet Leslie and Ben can come up with a good plan to let folks know what’s what.

Meanwhile, Ron, April, and Andy are on a treasure hunt for the ages to discover the whereabouts of a spare key Ron lent to April. Donna enjoys a nostalgia trip as she watches Garry drop all kinds of things down a grate at City Hall.

There are plenty of guest spots in this episode, too, from Maribeth Monroe to Chris Gethard. And Harris and Brett are here! What a super fun time.

Plus, changing the words to songs when you sing them, chaos inside of swimming pools, and that time the Four Tops made a repeat version of “Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch” with “It’s The Same Old Song.” Also, where the heck has Diane been?

Ep. 128: Well Then, Welcome to the Terrordome

Listen to “Well Then, Welcome to the Terrordome” on Spreaker.

April no longer wants to work in the government, but she’s afraid to tell Leslie because, you know…it’s Leslie. She freaks out over a binder color change. We’ll see if April can pull this off — she deserves to be happy! And there are a ton of Senators in this episode — special shout out to Cory Booker and Orrin Hatch and their Polynesian folk band Across the Isle.

Meanwhile, back in Pawnee, Ben, Andy, and Ron are looking for a new career for April. We also learn Ron has at least three brothers. Are they just like him? Yes. Yes, they are.

Plus, far too much ASMR as Sean sips a new drink, weird and gross people at Chili’s, and having dance parties in your living room. Sean finally joined Twitter, too, so he’s gotten quite the wake-up call to that world thanks to Oprah’s interview with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

And it’s Haleigh’s birthday! Happy birthday, Haleigh!

Ep. 127: I AM Interested, But Now is Not the Time!

Listen to “I AM Interested, But Now is Not the Time!” on Spreaker.

Donna and Joe are getting married! That means a lot of Meagles in one setting. It’s up to April to stop the drama that is sure to follow, which may include making Ginuwine cry. We also see Ron put his foot in his mouth in a rare case of being a spectacular buffoon around Tom and Lucy.

Meanwhile, Leslie and Ben get drunk and commit to a pretty wild lifestyle change. We’ll have to find out what that is, but if Jen Barkley is involved, we’re all in. Questlove is also here, so it’s truly a good day.

Plus, overindulging on cookies, some of the wildest adventures you can find at arcades, and it’s Merlin’s adoptiversary! What a special guy.

Ep. 126: Seeing the Sun After the Snowpocalypse

Listen to “Seeing the Sun After the Snowpocalypse” on Spreaker.

We survived the Texas winter storm! As a result, there’s no episode of Parks and Rec to watch. Instead, we’re offering a look at some of the most intense moments from Snowpocalypse, such as Haleigh collecting snow to use as toilet water and Sean losing heat and water, and then having his car turn sideways while driving on icy roads.

Joey also reminisces about Oregon Trail II, we reflect on our favorite books and movies from high school and college, and share the best ways to make grilled cheese sandwiches.

And we’re taking a quote quiz! Will Sean and Haleigh know who said some of the most popular (and obscure) quotes from the show? You’ll have to tune in to find out.

Finally, we’re reading a few of our favorite podcast reviews! And because we’re silly geese, we’re doing it in fancy accents. It’s truly a glorious time. Want to get your review read? Head on over to Apple Podcasts and leave us a review!

Ep. 125: Treat Yo Self — In Beverly Hills!

Listen to “Treat Yo Self — In Beverly Hills!” on Spreaker.

As Leslie and Ron are teaming up against Gryzzl, they learn Dennis Feinstein has bought JJ’s Diner. Uh-oh. Will they make a difference before Feinstein releases “The Hounds” on them?

Meanwhile, Tom and Donna are enjoying Treat Yourself 2017 — in Beverly Hills! And it just might encourage Tom to finally ask out Lucy. Just go for it, you wimp!

Plus, can you name all the singers from Lady Marmalade? We’re sure trying to. And we’re chatting times we’ve spun out while driving, revisiting our outlandish Super Bowl picks, and reminiscing over the time U2’s album came on all Apple products. Simpler times, you know?

Speaking of simpler times, do you check a bag when you travel? It’s a classic debate.

Ep. 124: Biden the Rails

Listen to “Biden the Rails” on Spreaker.

Gryzzl is using data mining to get inside people’s heads and provide them with all the information they would ever find useful. Huh, sounds vaguely familiar, doesn’t it?

Anyway, this is a fantastic episode with just about every character showing their best characteristics. Leslie and Ben try to find a way to overtake Gryzzl, and they’re starting to get some help from their old crew. Ron cracks a funny joke about vegetables. Johnny Karate makes another appearance. Craig lists a lot of things he likes. The community is on Leslie’s side during a town hall. That’s super chill!

Plus, Sean shares his go-to McDonald’s order (both while sober and drunk), we break down some classic wine bottle designs, the best and worst movie premieres we’ve ever been to, and the beauty of exploring the world through the window of an Amtrak train.

We also recorded this before the Super Bowl, so you can hear some wildly incorrect predictions, such as which quarterback will throw a touchdown pass to himself and what color Gatorade will be poured on the winning coach.

Ep. 119: Six Seasons in the Books! And A Farewell to 2020

Listen to “Six Seasons in the Books! And A Farewell to 2020” on Spreaker.

Well, we’ve made it through Season 6 and basically 2020, so there’s lots of reflecting going on. We reminisce about the very first episode of Parks n Wrecked and how wildly unprofessional it was (as if we’ve gotten more professional, HA). And of course, we’re going over some of the key moments of Season 6 of Parks and Rec.

Remember when Andy had a job in London and hopped into a dumpster? Or how about the time Chris Bosh made a guest appearance as an Eagletonian high schooler player despite being nearly 30 years old? Or when Leslie Knope got recalled?

Yes, we all remember the Unity Concert, and there was plenty of personal growth in Season 6. This was the season where Ann and Chris left us after birthing a beautiful child. Donna’s a realtor now. April is working with animals, which she LOVES. Tom sells his old company and opened up Tom’s Bistro. Ron and Diane got married and had a baby and we barely heard about it! Larry retired yet he’s still working all the time. Classic Larry. And then we time-hopped three years at the end of the season!

Plus, wild moments with the wind and ultimate frisbee, an in-depth look at butt fumbles, a deep dive into the Logical Journey of the Zoombinis computer game, and a full-on reflection of 2020 as a whole. We also take a trivia quiz that crashes on us halfway through, and Sean alienates his friends by criticizing both The Office and Parks and Rec.

And remember: 2020 may have been terrible but we all still accomplished good things this year. Take a moment to reflect on those and have a wonderful and relaxing holiday. We’ll see you next year!

Oh, and did you want to check out some of the other things we mentioned? We’d love to see you at Good People, Cool Things and Crisp Bounce Pass or dropping a review on this Bic Pen for Her or the book How to Avoid Huge Ships.

Ep. 117: Call Me Kristen Because I’m Wigging Out

Listen to “Call Me Kristen Because I’m Wigging Out” on Spreaker.

We’re at the last episode of Season 6, but as NBC did, we’re turning it into a two-parter. Leslie still isn’t sure if she’s going to take that job in Chicago, Ben gets to show off his Cones of Dunshire skills, and we meet Gryzzl, who most certainly will make another appearance in future episodes.

Meanwhile, Tom’s Bistro just moved up its soft launch and it is going QUITE poorly. Tom is being a jerk. April has to sub in as a server and adds several cars to the list of available pasts. And Larry knocks over entire cabinets of glassware. Classic Larry.

Plus, we debate the merits of stuffing versus dressing, reminisce about adventures at a Texas Rangers baseball game, nerd out quite a bit over Star Wars, and there’s actually something related to parks and rec this episode! Sean is thrilled to share his experiences in working at conferences.
