Ep. 130: One-Way Ticket to the Funky Monkey Dunk Tank

Listen to “One-Way Ticket to the Funky Monkey Dunk Tank” on Spreaker.

With just a few episodes to go, we’re going to take a wild detour to Andy’s Johnny Karate kids show that doesn’t really advance the plot in any way. But, uh…it’s kind of silly occasionally, so…yay?

Andy gets top billing by being a big ol’ goofball, while April is worried that she’s ruining the one thing he loves by moving to Washington, D.C. Ben gets chided for being a nerd, Ron makes some wood, and John Cena shows up, for some reason. Look, it’s not a great episode, okay? We do like all the fake commercials spliced into the episode, though.

Meanwhile, SNL movies that were made from questionable premises, the hypocrisy of the NCAA, the joys of snacking on buckeyes, and how good would a Paunch Burger be in real life?

Plus, Sean achieved a HUGE milestone. Tune in to see what it is!

Ep. 124: Biden the Rails

Listen to “Biden the Rails” on Spreaker.

Gryzzl is using data mining to get inside people’s heads and provide them with all the information they would ever find useful. Huh, sounds vaguely familiar, doesn’t it?

Anyway, this is a fantastic episode with just about every character showing their best characteristics. Leslie and Ben try to find a way to overtake Gryzzl, and they’re starting to get some help from their old crew. Ron cracks a funny joke about vegetables. Johnny Karate makes another appearance. Craig lists a lot of things he likes. The community is on Leslie’s side during a town hall. That’s super chill!

Plus, Sean shares his go-to McDonald’s order (both while sober and drunk), we break down some classic wine bottle designs, the best and worst movie premieres we’ve ever been to, and the beauty of exploring the world through the window of an Amtrak train.

We also recorded this before the Super Bowl, so you can hear some wildly incorrect predictions, such as which quarterback will throw a touchdown pass to himself and what color Gatorade will be poured on the winning coach.

Ep. 116: Why Don’t You Take a Whale Sounds Break?

Listen to “Why Don't You Take a Whale Sounds Break?” on Spreaker.

Leslie and Ben knew they were expecting a child, but THREE children?! What are the odds? (Probably one in 8,000, according to Dr. Saperstein.) They don’t want anyone to know until they’re ready to tell everyone, but that means Andy has to keep the couple’s secret.

Meanwhile, Andy needs to play several Johnny Karate shows without spilling the beans, April is nice to Larry for perhaps the first time all series, and Donna and Tom volunteer at the elementary school. We also meet Keegan-Michael Key as Joe, and Aziz Ansari is conspicuously absent. Or maybe he was just filming Master of None, who knows.

Plus, the history of Mike Tyson’s Punch Out, Sean delivers some ASMR via a Red Lobster order that arrives at his door mid-episode, when people say “let me know if you need anything” during times of grief or sadness, and why are we making cold, refreshing drinks spicy?

Speaking of spice, Sean also thinks Red Hot Chili Peppers and Foo Fighters are the same band. Feel free to let him know how wrong he is.

Ep. 108: Peas Be Kind to Others

Parks n Wrecked Podcast Logo

Listen to “Peas Be Kind to Others” on Spreaker.

Hope you’re not too chard-headed this episode because we’re going to the farmers market! There’s an UNCOMFORTABLE amount of chard, including in shot form. Leslie and Ben are in the midst of a government spat with each other, all of Ron’s music is in a rectangle, and Donna and Tom host a whine and cheese club. Peas be kind to others, y’all.

Meanwhile, Andy and April introduce us to the magic of Johnny Karate, and Chris irritates Ann with how on top of everything he is.

Plus, mnemonic devices to remember directions, using huge headphones to block out people from talking or singing, and there’s drama in the Sean and Haleigh’s bowling league.

Finally, Sean had the bright idea to record this episode during a Cowboys game, and his team decided to get themselves down 20-0 while we were recording. But on the plus side, they ended up winning, so Sean got much happier than he was during this episode!
